The Doric Order of Greece is characterized by its relatively large and majestic, without a column base. The shaft has 20 grooves, and the capital has no decoration. The ratio of shaft and capital is usually: The ratio of bottom diameter to height is 1:5.5. The form of the capital is changing, although the methods used may vary, the principle is the same.

Doric Order is also called Male Column. Parthenon in the Athens Acropolis adopted the Doric Order.

The Roman Doric Order is the transformation of the Greek Doric Order by ancient Romans. The main difference is the increased number of bases.

2.Ionic Order

Ionic Order also has a long history, which is also called female order. This type is relatively slender and full of exquisite carving. The shaft is long, the diameter gradually increases from top to bottom and no radian. The grooves of the shaft are deep semi-circular. The capital is decorated with a pair of downward scrolls, on which there is a direct lintel of the top plate. It has elegant and noble temperament. It is widely used in a large number of buildings in ancient Greece, such as the Temple of Athena Nike and Erechtheium in the Acropolis of Athens.

3.Corinthian Order

It may have first appeared in Zeus’s temple on Mount Olympus in Athens. There are scroll-shaped decorative patterns on four sides and two rows of leaf decorations around it. It is especially exquisite and symmetrical, gorgeous and delicate. The proportion of the Corinthian Order in Greece is slenderer than that of the Lonic Order. The capital is decorated with Acanthus, which looks like a basket full of flowers and plants.

Compared with the Lonic Order, the Corinthian Order is more decorative, but it was not widely used in ancient Greece. The Zeus's Temple in Athens adopted the Corinthian Order.

It is the early Roman order, which is a thicker and shorter variant of the Doric order. Some people also think it is the basis of the Greek order.

Similar to Doric order, its style is simple and unadorned. But no grooves on the column surface compared with Doric order. The ratio of the length to the diameter of the column is about 7:1.

5.Composite Order
